Health and Safety
Duties of the Employer
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 1993, Part VII specify that every employee who habitually uses a Visual Display Unit (VDU) as a significant part of normal work has a right to opt for an eye test and an eyesight test, which must be made available by the employer at his/her cost.

Employees have the right to an eye and eyesight test before taking up work if it is habitual work with a VDU (one continuous hour or more a day) as well as at regular intervals. In determining the intervals, factors such as the age of the employees and the intensity of the VDU work should be taken into account in deciding the frequency of repeat tests.

Call me for a free consultation and I will explain how this affects your business and the preventative measures available to you.
Our membership of the Association of Optometrists is your assurance of the highest ethical standards and clinical accuracy
