NOT WHERE BNI AND YOUR BUSINESS IS CONCERNED.
When members are absent from weekly meetings, and have not
applied themselves to arranging a substitute, referrals and the
amount of business done decreases. It affects the whole group. This of course only makes sense within the context of paying
attention to the other important fundamentals - well prepared
education & 60 second presentations, focused strategies for
inviting / looking after / following up with visitors, well-oiled
leadership teams and committees, and so on.
Let's look at a couple of case studies, where Chapters addressed the problem of absenteeism:
Chapter 1
14 members. 2.1 absences per week. 188 referrals per Qtr.
For the 1st following Quarter:
Absences cut back to 1 per week
Membership increased to 18
Referrals increased to 269 (43% improvement)
For the 2nd following Quarter:
Absences cut back to .6 per week
Membership increased to 21
Referrals increased to 305 (62% improvement)
Chapter 2 (Riverside, California)
11 members. 1.9 absences per week. 122 referrals per Qtr.
For the 1st following Quarter:
Absences cut back to .9 per week
Membership increased to 12
Referrals increased to 133 (9% improvement)
For the 2nd following Quarter:
Absences cut back to .8 per week
Membership increased to 17
Referrals increased to 208 (71% improvement)
These figures speak for themselves. Don't be absent. Arrange a substitute if you have to be.
Make your BNI meetings and membership work as well as it can, for you and your colleagues.
