The 'Knowing - Doing' Gap
We will always 'know' more than we 'do'.
But we can close the gap.
It's often fear that prevents us from getting up and doing things -
both in our business and personal lives. Instead of 'just doing',
we can be put off by fear of not getting things perfect, of making mistakes.
Our instinct is often to read more books, go to more seminars, keep learning
more more more so we'll end up 'knowing how to do things'.
But think about it - this just widens the gap.
- Making mistakes is no big deal
- We all know enough about most things we need to
- We don't 'do enough about what we know'
- Actually doing things, with plenty of old-fashioned trial and error is the best way to make progress
GOYA was a great artist
This is a great work of art
Getting Off Your Ass is a great way to get things done.
